Women taking leadership roles

inquiry

WHAT I NEEDED TO KNOW IS NOT WHAT THE SCRIPTURES SAID BUT WHAT YEAR AND WHAT
NATION AND OR COUNTRY DID WOMEN FEEL THE NEED TO BECOME PASTORS, MINISTERS.
PREACHERS, AND WHEN THEY WERE CALLED INTO THE SERVICE OF THE LORD

In the New Testament we have a number of examples of women in
ministry. Ray Stedman mentions this in his article on Women in the
Ministry, http://pbc.org/dp/stedman/misc/woteach.html

For the first 250 years Christians met in home churches and it was
not unusual for a husband and wife to lead the meetings. Or a widow
might host the meetings.

The rise of the feminist movement in recent years has certainly
propelled all sorts of women into church leadership and into the
pulpit. Concerning how many of these women were actually "called" by
God and how many were simply responding to the sociology of the times
I have no idea.
