Age of accountability for salvation

inquiry

Hello:

At what age is a child accountable for Salvation? Is there biblical proof
that all children go to heaven or is there an age limit when a child must
confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in order to make heaven their
eternal home.

response

I do not think there is a fixed age of accountability. But I do
believe that every child comes to a time in his or her life when he
stops obeying his parents and says "no" to the inner voice of the
Spirit of God. I remember making that transition to self-centeredness
when I was about 5 or 6 years old.

The Jewish religion celebrates the Bar Mitzvah (Bat Mitzvah for
girls). When a boy is about 12 or so, and able to memorize part of
the Bible, a public ceremony is held where the boy makes a transition
to manhood. From that day on, his father is not considered
responsible for the sins of his son..

There is no absolute Biblical proof I know of that small children who
die go to haven, but most Bible scholars assume that. What Jesus did
teach about children strongly indicates the Father welcomes such
children home.

Luke 18:16 But Jesus called them to him, saying, "Let the children
come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom
of God.

Mark 10:13 And they were bringing children to him, that he might
touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But when Jesus saw
it he was indignant, and said to them, "Let the children come to me,
do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God.

Matt. 18:3 and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and
become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matt. 19:13 Then children were brought to him that he might lay his
hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people; 14 but
Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for
to such belongs the kingdom of heaven."

Matt. 18:10    "See that you do not despise one of these little ones;
for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of
my Father who is in heaven.

Sincerely,
